2008 Rotarian of the Year

Congratulations to Sandy Wilson, 2008 Olathe Rotary "Rotarian of the Year"!

President David White presented Sandy Wilson with the Olathe Rotary 2008 Rotarian of the Year award, at the June 18th year end banquet. Due to her long time goal of incorporating as a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization, the Olathe Rotary Club Foundation was created, with final approval March, 2008. She worked many hours creating the foundation as we know it today, with the help of the Foundation Trustees & Mainstream, Inc. in Topeka. Sandy also developed the olatherotary.org website to be released to club members July 2nd, 2008, designed for potential new members, Olathe Rotarians, guest Rotarians, and folks in the community to learn more about Olathe Rotary, it's many opportunities, and it's community contributions.
Sandy is a 3 time Paul Harris recipient and is a Rotary International Bequest Society Benefactor, She was the District Literacy Chair for 3 years, Public Relations Chair for the District in 2006, and was District Conference Chair in 2004. She received the Quiet Rotarian of the Year award for the District in 2004, and is recipient of the Rotary Foundation District Service Award for outstanding service in promoting the Rotary Foundation and its goal of world understanding and peace.
She served on the Olathe Rotary Board of Directors from 1999 to 2008, and was club President 2004-2005, the centennial year for Rotary International. She began doing the club monthly newsletter in 2001 when Frank Oswald became President, and continues to publish it today. She has designed a number of brochures and public relations pieces for the club, created the Club Roster, and created & chaired the 1st Feast and Fun Fundraiser. Sandy enjoys photography, works for Farmers Insurance on 119th Street, and loves gardening.
