Denis Sawatsky Awarded the Olathe Rotary International Scholarship
Denis, a student at the Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, is from Büsington, Germany. His major is in Graphic Arts and his minor is in Art. Rotarian Dwight Douglas, on the selection committee, below, awards the $500.00 scholarship to Dennis during the May 14th Rotary meeting. The scholarship is funded by a District Simplified Grant, and is to be used for outstanding students studying in the U.S. who will be taking what they learn back to their native country.

Samy Valluri
2008 Exchange Student to Japan
Samy is 16 years old, is a student at Olathe South, and has studied Japanese for 2 years. He will be in Maibashi, Japan from June 27 to July 17. His Japanese counterpart will then come to Olathe to stay with the Valluri family. Samy has played the Saxaphone for 7 years. We thank Olathe Rotarian Dianne Daugherty for coordinating this program each year. |

2008 Mission Project Golf Classic Earned
$14,000 in Donations!
Congratulations to Olathe Rotarian Jim Wise for another successful fundraiser for individuals with cognitive and other developmental disabilities in their quest to live independent and fulfilling lives. Based in Mission, Kansas since 2004, The Mission Project emphasizes employment, enrichment activities, education, community involvement, and apartment based living. |

Jim had 108 players and 32 hole sponsors! Over 11,000 pieces of advertising for the Golf Tournament were sent out including Olathe Rotary as one of the major supporters for the event. |

Olathe American Cancer Society Relay For Life Walk
Our Olathe Rotary team again did itself proud this year thanks to the effort of Ernie and Dana and folks like yourselves who believe that cancer one day will be a thing of the past. We contributed over $2000.00 from the Olathe Rotary Team!!! Most of the contributions were thanks to Ernie and his letters to friends and club members. Thanks also to other team participants, Bob and Linda Wilhelm, Gerald and Lynn Gentry, Carl Seaton and Ester Eppler, Sandy Wilson, Dana Campbell, Dave Quisenberry, Joanna Randall, and J.C. and son Jack!
